Key Proteo’s Petition Process to Washington State for Wilson Disease Adoption Updates

Key Proteo, Inc. is excited to share that they’ve successfully submitted a petition package to the Washington State Department of Health Board of Directors to include Wilson Disease in the current WA state newborn screening panel.

Key Proteo’s proteomic based technology will allow for newborn screening laboratories to screen for diseases that previously have not been included in newborn screening panels for lack of high throughput technology among other factors.

We are grateful that the Washington State Department of Health Board of Directors has determined that Key Proteo’s petition has sufficient scientific evidence available to apply the five Qualifying Assumptions as listed below. The Board has directed their staff to convene a technical advisory committee (TAC), to make the final recommendation.

We deeply appreciate all the support from the Wilson Disease Association, patients and family members worldwide, and Wilson disease experts willing to be included in the petition process.

Qualifying Assumptions:

CRITERIA IN WA STATE TO BE QUALIFIED

1. Available Screening Technology

2. Diagnostic Testing and Treatment Available

3. Prevention Potential and Medical Rationale

4. Public Health Rationale

5. Cost-benefit/Cost-effectiveness
